In The Ould Ago, Illustrated Irish Folklore Book
After collecting folklore by tape recorder and pencil for 40 years Johnny McKeagney has published an illustrated book of Irish folklore last October. Sadly, he died on December 1st, only 5 weeks after he published his life’s work, though not before he saw his contribution recognized by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese.
“In The Ould Ago,” which means a long time ago, features 200 pages of intricate hand drawn illustrations of Irish history, lore, stories, townlands, myth, legend and heritage. This hard back A3 publication will shortly be on display in a dozen university libraries in North America including Harvard, Notre Dame, the Library of Congress. and UCLA.

Tucson Irish Heritage Foundation established
It has been a dream of many groups and individuals in Tucson to establish an Irish Heritage Center. Phoenix has its Irish Cultural Center, and Tucson is now one step closer to establishing its own center. The new Four Peaks Irish Arts is Arizona’s branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Tucson has a new Celtic oriented shop, located in downtown Tucson, offering items of Irish, Scottish, and Welsh origins. The grand opening was November 24th. The store is located at 222 E Congress St. It is across the street from the Ronstadt Bus Terminal, next to the Marble store.

Darren Maguire Obtains ADCRG
Darren Maguire, who retired as lead dancer of Riverdance to start The Maguire Academy of Irish Dance in Tucson last summer, has added another feather to his cap. In addition to having obtained his TCRG, the certification required to teach competitive Irish dance under the rules of the Dublin, Ireland-based An Coímísíun le Ríncí Gaelacha, he has now been awarded the ADCRG certification, which qualifies him to adjudicate at Irish dance competitions....
