New Irish Pub in Town
The Auld Dubliner is a new Irish pub opening August 28th at 800 East University Blvd., near the University of Arizona main gate. The pub plans to host music seisiuns, perhaps even weekly, on Sunday afternooons. (The Thursday evening session at O’Malley’s will be discontinued as soon as the Auld Dubliner is open for business.) The restaurant’s telephone number is 520/206-0323.
One of the great things about the country of Ireland is the rich tradition of the “local” pub. It is there you find friends and family gathering for good food and drink, and great conversation throughout the day and night. Throughout the centuries, the pub has always been the meeting place for everyone in the town or village. The Auld Dubliner concept and brand is based on this principle of creating the “local”. This will be the fourth Auld Dubliner, the others being in Long Beach, California (est. 2004), Squaw Valley, California (est. 2005), and Lake Las Vegas, Nevada (est. 2006). The Auld Dubliner’s interior was handcrafted in Dublin, using the finest materials from all over Ireland. Designed to recreate a “Cottage Pub,” the Auld Dubliner has the warmth and feel of a small village pub in rural Ireland. With its lowered wood beams and dark wooden floor, guests can enjoy an excellent dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere. Live Irish entertainment will be featured on a regular basis, with local and touring Irish bands performing regularly. Executive Chef Matt Hewitt, one of the top chefs in Los Angeles, has created traditional dishes from Coastal and Southern Ireland. To see the menu, click here.
